Dear Slovenes, our American friends, all other visitors to our website!
Esteemed friends of Slovenia
and other guests
In memory of June 25, 1991 and the events, that enabled the establishment of our country in its international recognition - to which have you, the Slovenes in the US, greatly contributed. At that time, the unity of the Slovenian nation was important, and has helped to realize the dream of an souvereignand independent state.
Today, Slovenia is proud to look at the path traversed. In a short time, we have managed to achieve all the goals we have set for ourselves: economic and political transformation, integration into the international community in its institutions. We are a proud member of European Union, a partner of the Alliance in member of the United Nations.
During this period, Slovenia and the US have forged many friendly and partner ties. We share values like democracy, fundamental values and rights, economic and cultural ties and political-military partnership. And of course a living link - the Slovenian national community, which has enriched American science, politics, music, culture, cuisine and more.
But the priority challenge remains to deepen relations and cooperation between Slovenian and Midwest States in all areas and levels. And this goal is also pursued by our Consulate General.
In addition to promoting our beautiful homeland, which boasts unspoiled natural beauty and boutique tourism, kindness of people, excellent food and fine wines, rich cultural heritage and sport achievements on a global scale, we can offer America much more.
Our views and thoughts are future-oriented and overcoming current and new challenges. Their consequences will leave a deeper mark on all areas of our lives than we would like to. Our daily lives will never be the way it used to be.
The evidence to this is also the nature of today’s virtual event, which has all these years traditionally been held at Cleveland City Hall, for which we truly thank Mayor Frank Jackson. But on the other hand, we are pleased to note that all high technology does not outweigh personal contact and the warmth of human handshakes.
At the end, allow me to invite you to enjoy the cultural program, we have prepared for you with participants from almost all countries, for which our Consulate General is responsible.
Thank you all who so generously responded to our invitation and also to those, who regularly contribute, support and follow our activities!
